Grit blasting cabinet

The surface cleaning of steel work pieces and welded structures is carried out by sand blasting in the cabinet.

Blasting can be done with a compressed air grit blasting equipment. The cabin is of panel structure, upon request with two entrance doors and is equipped with appropriate wear protection inside.

The floor of the working space is flat concrete and the collection of the grits is done manually to a grit container but can also be automated. In case of automation, the floor of the work place is equipped with grating, under which is the scraper floor grit collector system placed. This system also forwards the blast grits to the collecting container. The grit collector system forwards the blasting material to the elevator, to its wind-separator.

In the wind-separator unit, the worn grits are selected from the cleaning grits also the separated grits, oxide residues and other dirt. The cleaned blasting material is collected in the feeder buffer tank, from which it can be returned to the compressed air tank through the sector gate. The lighting of the work space is managed by the light bodies fitted to the ceiling of the hall. The dust generated along powder blasting is exhausted by an exhaust fan. The exhausted air is cleaned by a refined filtration unit. Therefore, no dusty air may be returned to the environment. The entire cleaning room is controlled from a separate control cabinet.

The grit blasting room can be set up in a way that no sub-construction works need to be done in addition. In such cases, the cabin is set up on a stage of 300 mm.

The cabin is erected with a sandwich panel side wall and roof built in the steel structure framework. The light bodies providing the lighting of the work place as well as the blowing units providing the back feeding of the cleaned air are fitted to the ceiling. The blow room includes the support elements necessary for the installation of the rubber wear protection. The entire internal area of the blasting space is covered with rubber sheet with reinforced fibre inlet.

A powder blasting cabinet may consist of the following main and auxiliary units:

  • grit blasting cabinet structure
  • access gates and personnel entrance doors
  • enduring rubber sheet cover or the work space
  • Scraper-floor blast material system
  • grating
  • bucket elevator
  • blast material cleaner
  • buffer tank
  • dust separator system
  • compressed air blast technology
  • protective garment (pressure garment), equipped with fresh air supply helmet
  • control cabinet and control elements
